Ooni Volt 2: an 850 F deck oven that plugs into a kitchen wall
1,600 watts, a standard plug, and a stone floor at 850 F. The engineering here is all about spending a fixed energy budget well — and the specification that limits it is the one Ooni mentions least.

The short answer
Buy the Volt 2 if the oven has to live indoors. 1,600 W on a 120 V outlet is about 13.3 A, which fits a standard 15 A circuit, and 850 F is roughly 300 F above what your kitchen oven can do. The limit is the 0.4 in stone — the thinnest floor on this site — which is why the adaptive control system exists and why consecutive bakes need a moment.
Everything interesting about this oven follows from one constraint: it has 1,600 watts and no more. Ooni cannot add power without pushing the oven past what a normal kitchen circuit supplies, so every design decision is about spending that budget well rather than about adding to it.
Where the 1,600 watts goes
Into heating a small, extremely well-insulated chamber and then holding it. The Volt 2's body is powder-coated carbon steel over a stainless inner shell, with a triple-paned tempered glass door. Triple-paned glass on a countertop appliance is not a luxury detail — it is insulation, and insulation is how you get 850 F out of a budget that would otherwise get you far less.
The same reasoning explains the 0.4 in stone. Cordierite has to be heated by that same 1,600 W, and every extra millimeter of floor is more mass to bring up and more weight on the counter. Ooni chose thin, and the consequence is that the floor stores less heat than any other oven here.
Which is what the adaptive control is for
Ooni calls it Pizza Intelligence and describes it as a patent-pending adaptive system that adjusts temperature in real time. Read past the name and it is a direct answer to the thin-stone problem: with limited thermal mass in the floor, the oven has to actively manage recovery between bakes rather than coasting on stored energy the way a 0.8 in stone does.
That is a legitimate engineering solution and it is genuinely different from what a gas oven does, because a gas oven has no idea what temperature its floor is. It is also why the Volt 2 is a better back-to-back oven than its stone thickness alone would suggest.
The features that surprise people
A proof mode down to 70 F. The published range starts at 70 F, which means the appliance that bakes the pizza can also proof the dough, and can defrost frozen dough balls. On a kitchen counter with limited space, one appliance doing both is worth more than it sounds.
A dishwasher-safe smoke and grease filtration system. This is the unglamorous part that makes an indoor pizza oven possible at all. A 950 F gas oven in a kitchen would be a serious problem; managed exhaust is why this one is not.
The limits, stated plainly
850 F, not 950. A true 60-second Neapolitan is out of reach and Ooni does not claim it. Expect roughly 90 seconds to two minutes.
3.6 in of opening height. That rules out deep pan and Detroit builds with a tall rim. It is a low mouth by the standards of this site — the Gozney Arc XL's chamber is 6.8 in.
Indoor use only. Ooni states this directly, and it is a change from the older Volt 12, which was rated for both. If you wanted an electric oven for a covered patio, that older model is the one to look for.
