The disclosure
Crust & Coal is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
When you click a buy link on this site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This costs you nothing — the price you pay is the same as it would be if you had gone to the retailer directly.
Which links earn
Amazon links earn. They are marked with #ad and a link back to this page wherever they appear, and they carry `rel="sponsored nofollow"` in the page source.
Manufacturer links do not. When we link to Ooni, Gozney, Solo Stove, Bertello, Breville or Ninja to cite a specification, that is a plain reference link. We have not joined any of those programs and we earn nothing from those clicks. They exist so you can check our figures against the source.
Amazon is currently the only retailer this site earns from. If that changes, this page changes with it.
How prices work here
Prices are pulled from a live data feed and stamped with the date they were retrieved. If that data is more than 48 hours old, the price disappears and the button says "Check price on Amazon" instead. We would rather show you nothing than a stale figure.
At the moment the feed is not connected, so no prices are shown anywhere on this site and every buy button reads "Check price on Amazon". That is the correct behavior, not a fault.
What the commission does not change
Nothing about which products are recommended. Where a cheaper option is the better buy, it is the recommendation — and several products here are included specifically so we can advise against them. The full stance is on the editorial policy page.
No manufacturer pays for placement here, and none has any input into what is written.
Why disclose this prominently
Because the US Federal Trade Commission requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections between endorsers and sellers, and because a reader who does not know how a site is funded cannot properly weigh what it says. Both reasons are good ones.
