The best pizza oven covers, by oven
There is no universal cover worth buying. Covers are cut per model, so the only useful question is which one fits the oven you own — and whether its maker sells one at all.

The short answer
Buy the cover your oven's maker sells, if there is one. Gozney sells a cover for every oven it makes; Ooni sells one for the Karu line and the Koda 2 Max. The best-specified of the lot is the Ooni Koda 2 Max cover — 600D polyester with a rear pouch that swallows the hose and regulator. The one real gap is the Ooni Koda 16: Ooni makes a cover for it and it was out of stock at Amazon when we checked, which is the single case on this page where a third-party cover is the right answer.
This is not a quality comparison, because these products are barely distinguishable on quality. It is a fit guide. Get the model right and almost any of them works; get it wrong and the best fabric in the world is a bag that collects water.
How we judged these, before the ranking
We have not used any of them. There is no test kitchen behind this site and no page here claims one. What follows is each cover's published detail, matched against the job a cover actually has to do, with the source on every figure. Four criteria, in this order:
- Does the oven's own maker sell one? A cover cut by the company that designed the oven is the shortest route to a fit that seals at the base, which is the only part that matters.
- What does it say about the fabric, in a unit you can check? A denier figure or a weight in grams per square meter is a specification. "Heavy duty" is not.
- Waterproof or water repellent? Two different claims, and the makers here use both — sometimes across their own range.
- Does anything close it at the bottom? Drawstrings, toggles or straps. A cover that only drapes is a cover that leaves in the first gale.
Which ovens have a maker's own cover
This is the table most people actually need. Availability below is what the catalog this site links into showed on 22 September 2026 — a maker may well sell a cover on its own site that is not stocked here.

Two things fall out of that. Gozney covers its whole range and Ooni does not — which is a real difference between the two companies, and it belongs alongside the other differences in Ooni vs Gozney. And the Koda 16, the oven this site recommends more than any other, is the one where a first-party cover was not purchasable on the day we looked.
Waterproof and water repellent are not the same word
This is the detail worth slowing down for, because both brands use both terms and the difference is real.
Water repellent describes a surface treatment that makes water bead and run off. It sheds rain and it gives up under sustained pressure — a puddle sitting in a fold overnight, or wind driving rain against the same spot for hours.
Waterproof is the stronger claim: the fabric itself does not let water through. Neither Ooni nor Gozney publishes a hydrostatic head figure, which is the number that would let you compare two waterproof claims against each other, so what you are comparing is the word.
| Cover | Published claim | Fabric, as published |
|---|---|---|
| Ooni Koda 2 Max | Waterproof, rip-resistant, UV-stable | 600D polyester |
| Ooni Karu 16 / Karu 2 Pro | 100% waterproof | Aluminum, polyester |
| Ooni Karu 12 / Karu 2 | 100% waterproof | Polyester, aluminum buckles |
| Gozney Arc | Water repellent, UV stable | 350 gr/m2 100% polyester, PVC coated |
| Gozney Arc XL | Water repellent, UV stable | 350 gr/m2 100% polyester, PVC coated |
| Gozney Roccbox | Water repellent | PVC-coated polyester |
| NOELIFE for Koda 16 | Waterproof, sealed seam tape | 600D, per the listing |
Each maker's own wording, from its own product page.
Nobody publishes the one dimension you want
Not one cover here publishes its fitted size. Ooni publishes boxed dimensions for the Karu covers — 11 by 9 by 2 in — but that is the folded cover in its packaging, which tells you nothing about the oven it goes over.
That matters for one specific decision, and it is the most common mistake in this category: a cover for the oven is not a cover for the oven on a stand. Gozney sells those as separate products, and so do the third-party makers. If your oven lives on a stand or a table, you need the taller cover, and no specification sheet here will tell you which one that is — the product title is your only guide.
Quick picks
Ranked for fit, not for hype. Every figure below is the maker’s own published number, and “n/p” means they do not publish it — which is itself worth knowing. Tap a row for the full write-up, or go straight to the listing.

Max pizza and weight are the makers’ published figures, sourced on each write-up below. Neither is a measurement we took, and no column here is a score — we have not cooked on these ovens and will not pretend otherwise.

Top pick · The Ooni Koda 2 Max
Ooni Koda 2 Max Protective Pizza Oven Cover
Ooni · Accessory
The only cover here that publishes a fabric denier and solves the hose problem at the same time: a rear pouch swallows the regulator and hose, which is the part that otherwise sits on the ground getting wet.
Published specification
- Fits
- Ooni Koda 2 Max
- Fabric
- 600D polyester, per Ooni
- Claim
- Rip-resistant, waterproof and UV-stable
- Fastening
- Drawstring toggle
- Storage
- Rear pouch for the hose and regulator, or for the cover itself while cooking
- Care
- Hand wash only; air dry
- Fitted dimensions
- Not published
What it does well
- Publishes a denier. Ooni states 600D, which is more than most of this category says about its fabric at any price
- The rear pouch takes the regulator and hose, so the one component that genuinely does not want to sit in a puddle has somewhere to go
- The same pouch stores the cover while the oven is lit, which is the difference between using a cover and leaving it in the garage
- Waterproof rather than water repellent — a stronger claim than Gozney makes for the Arc covers
What you give up
- The most expensive cover on this page by a wide margin, for an oven that is already the most expensive here
- Publishes no fitted dimensions, so there is no way to check it against a stand or an enclosure before buying
- Hand wash only, and a cover that lives outdoors gets dirty
- Fits exactly one oven. Ooni does not list it as compatible with the Koda 2 or the Koda 2 Pro
Buy it if
Anyone who owns a Koda 2 Max and leaves it outside.
Skip it if
Any other oven, including the smaller Koda 2 models.

Pick 2 · The Gozney Arc XL
Gozney Arc XL Pizza Oven Cover
Gozney · Accessory
Gozney is the only maker here that publishes a fabric weight: 350 gr/m2 of PVC-coated polyester, with toggle straps and a pull tag that closes it around the base rather than leaving it to flap.
Published specification
- Fits
- Gozney Arc XL
- Fabric
- 350 gr/m2 100% polyester, PVC coated
- Claim
- Water repellent, UV stable
- Fastening
- Toggle retention straps, plus a pull tag to tighten around the base
- Protects against
- Rain, wind, frost, UV, salt, insects and wildlife, per Gozney
- Fitted dimensions
- Not published
What it does well
- Publishes a fabric weight, 350 gr/m2, which is a real specification rather than an adjective
- The pull tag closes the cover around the base of the oven — wind getting under a cover is how covers end up in the next garden
- PVC coating over polyester is the construction used on serious outdoor covers rather than a laminate that peels
- Gozney names salt in its protection list, which matters more than it sounds if the oven lives near the coast
What you give up
- Water repellent, not waterproof. Gozney uses the stronger word for the Roccbox cover and the weaker one here, and the difference is not decorative
- Publishes no fitted dimensions, so whether it clears the oven on a stand is not answerable from the specification
- One of the more expensive covers here, on top of an oven that is not cheap
- Gozney sells separate Arc and Arc XL covers — they are not interchangeable, and the names are one character apart
Buy it if
An Arc XL owner who leaves it out between cooks.
Skip it if
The smaller Arc, which has its own cover.

Pick 3 · The Gozney Arc
Gozney Arc Pizza Oven Cover
Gozney · Accessory
The same 350 gr/m2 PVC-coated polyester as the Arc XL cover, cut for the smaller oven, and cheaper. Buying the wrong one of the two is the easiest mistake in this whole category.
Published specification
- Fits
- Gozney Arc
- Fabric
- 350 gr/m2 100% polyester, PVC coated
- Claim
- Water repellent, UV stable
- Fastening
- Toggle retention straps, plus a pull tag to tighten around the base
- Fitted dimensions
- Not published
What it does well
- Identical published construction to the Arc XL cover at a lower price, because the oven is smaller
- Toggle straps and a base pull tag, so it stays put in wind
- Made by the company that made the oven, which is the shortest route to a cover that actually fits
What you give up
- Water repellent, not waterproof, in Gozney's own wording
- No fitted dimensions published
- Does not fit the Arc XL, and the two product names differ by two letters
- A cover for the oven is not a cover for the oven on a stand — check which you are buying
Buy it if
An Arc owner. Not an Arc XL owner.
Skip it if
The Arc XL, which is a different cover.

Pick 4 · The Gozney Roccbox, and carrying it
Gozney Roccbox Pizza Oven Cover
Gozney · Accessory
The only cover here that does a second job: a heavy-duty strap turns it into a carry handle, which matters on the one oven in this category that was actually designed to be carried.
Published specification
- Fits
- Gozney Roccbox
- Material
- PVC-coated polyester
- Claim
- Water repellent
- Fastening
- Front and rear drawstrings
- Second function
- Heavy-duty strap doubles as a carry handle
- Fabric weight
- Not published
- Fitted dimensions
- Not published
What it does well
- The carry strap is the feature. The Roccbox is the one oven here built to be picked up, and a cover that carries it is a cover you will not leave off
- Front and rear drawstrings close both ends, rather than one drawstring fighting the whole cover
- The cheapest first-party cover on this page
- Gozney describes it as water repellent and adds that it keeps off rain, snow, wind and sunlight during storage
What you give up
- Publishes no fabric weight, unlike Gozney's own Arc covers which state 350 gr/m2
- Water repellent rather than waterproof, in Gozney's wording
- No fitted dimensions published
- A carry cover is not a padded case — it protects the oven from weather, not from being dropped
Buy it if
A Roccbox owner, and especially one who takes it places.
Skip it if
Any other oven — the Roccbox shape is unlike anything else here.

Pick 5 · The Ooni Karu 2 Pro
Ooni Karu 16 and Karu 2 Pro Cover
Ooni · Accessory
Ooni's strongest published claim on any cover here: 100 percent waterproof, with an elasticated edge and adjustable straps that pull in around the legs rather than draping over them.
Published specification
- Fits
- Ooni Karu 16 and Karu 2 Pro
- Material
- Aluminum and polyester, per Ooni
- Claim
- 100% waterproof
- Fastening
- Elasticated edge and adjustable straps, hugging tight to the legs
- Boxed size
- 11 x 9 x 2" (28 x 22 x 5 cm)
- Weight
- 0.5 lb unboxed
- Note
- Ooni says it may arrive in Karu 16 packaging and is still the Karu 2 Pro cover
- Fitted dimensions
- Not published
What it does well
- 100 percent waterproof is the strongest claim any maker makes here, and it is Ooni's own wording rather than a listing's
- Straps that pull in around the legs are what stop a tall oven's cover becoming a sail
- Covers two ovens, the Karu 16 and the Karu 2 Pro, which is unusual in a category sold one model at a time
- At 0.5 lb it packs down small enough to travel with the oven
What you give up
- The boxed dimensions Ooni publishes are the folded cover in its packaging, not the fitted size — they tell you nothing about whether it clears a stand
- "Aluminum, polyester" is a materials list, not a construction spec: no denier, no coating, no fabric weight
- The Karu 16 packaging note means the box may not say the model you bought, which is unsettling at the door even when it is correct
- A wood-burning oven's chimney is the part a cover has to accommodate; Ooni does not publish how this one handles it
Buy it if
A Karu 2 Pro or Karu 16 owner.
Skip it if
The smaller Karu 2 and Karu 12, which take a different cover.

Pick 6 · The Ooni Karu 2, carried
Ooni Karu 12 and Karu 2 Carry Cover
Ooni · Accessory
A carry cover with aluminum harness buckles and a padded handle, and one fit condition that is easy to miss: Ooni states it does not fit a Karu 2 with the gas burner attached.
Published specification
- Fits
- Ooni Karu 12, Karu 12G and Karu 2
- Does not fit
- Karu 12G or Karu 2 with the gas burner attached
- Material
- Polyester with aluminum harness buckles
- Claim
- 100% waterproof
- Fastening
- Elasticated edge, adjustable straps with aluminum buckles
- Carry
- Padded carry handle
- Care
- Hand wash only; air dry
- Fitted dimensions
- Not published
What it does well
- 100 percent waterproof, the same claim Ooni makes for the Karu 2 Pro cover and stronger than Gozney's wording
- Aluminum buckles rather than plastic, on a cover that is meant to be strapped and carried
- A padded handle is the difference between carrying a 26 lb oven and regretting it
- One cover across the Karu 12, Karu 12G and Karu 2
What you give up
- It does not fit with the gas burner attached — which is exactly how a lot of Karu 2 owners run the oven, since the burner is the reason to buy a multi-fuel one
- No denier, coating or fabric weight published; the materials line is polyester and aluminum
- No fitted dimensions published
- Hand wash only, on an accessory whose job is to get dirty
Buy it if
A Karu 2 or Karu 12 owner who stores the oven with the burner off.
Skip it if
Anyone who leaves the gas burner bolted on between cooks.
Where these numbers came from
- Ooni — Carry Cover for Ooni Karu 12, Karu 12G and Karu 2 product page: 100% waterproof polyester with aluminum harness buckles, adjustable straps, padded carry handle, elasticated edge, not compatible with Karu 12G / Karu 2 with gas burner attached
- Amazon listing — Ooni Karu 12 and Karu 2 carry cover

Pick 7 · A Koda 16, while Ooni's own cover is out of stock
NOELIFE Pizza Oven Cover for Ooni Koda 16
NOELIFE · Accessory
The stand-in, not the first choice. Ooni makes a Koda 16 cover and it was out of stock at Amazon when we checked; this is the third-party one that publishes the most about itself, including sealed seams.
Published specification
- Fits
- Ooni Koda 16 only
- Fabric
- 600D, per the listing
- Seams
- Sealed seam tape
- Storage
- Top pocket for the gas hose and accessories
- Fastening
- Straps at the bottom for fixation, adjustable buckles
- Maker's own page
- None we could find; the listing is the source for every figure here
What it does well
- Sealed seam tape is a real construction detail, and stitched seams are where a waterproof cover usually leaks first
- A top pocket for the hose does the same job as the pouch on Ooni's Koda 2 Max cover, at a fraction of the price
- Bottom fixation straps, which is the feature that keeps a cover on a 16 in oven in wind
- 600D is the same denier Ooni publishes for the Koda 2 Max cover
What you give up
- Every figure here comes from the retail listing. There is no manufacturer specification page to check it against, which is the opposite of the two brand covers on this page
- No fitted dimensions published, so a stand or an enclosure is a guess
- NOELIFE is a marketplace brand with no warranty position we could verify
- Ooni's own Koda 16 cover exists and is stocked on Ooni's site. If it returns to Amazon, buy that instead
Buy it if
A Koda 16 owner who wants a cover on the oven this week.
Skip it if
Anyone willing to wait for the first-party cover to come back in stock.
When the maker does not sell one
Three of the ovens on this site have no first-party cover we could find, and one has one that was out of stock. For those, the third-party market is enormous and almost entirely undifferentiated: near-identical 600D polyester covers, usually with a top pocket, usually around the same price.
Two things separate the better ones from the rest, and both are checkable from the listing:
- Sealed seam tape. A waterproof fabric with stitched seams leaks at the stitching, because every stitch is a hole. Taped seams are the fix, and the covers that have them say so.
- Something that closes at the bottom — bottom straps, a drawstring, buckles. This is what stops the cover lifting, and lifting is what lets rain reach the burner.
What none of them have is a manufacturer specification page. Every figure on a third-party cover comes from the retail listing and cannot be checked anywhere else, which is why the one below sits last rather than first.
A cover is not the whole job
Buying the right cover is about a third of the problem. The other two thirds are when you put it on and what you do before winter, and getting those wrong makes a cover actively harmful.
The short version: never cover a warm oven. A cover over metal that is still giving off heat traps the moisture against it and causes exactly the corrosion you bought the cover to prevent. And a cover is not winter storage — a porous stone that has absorbed water still wants to come indoors. The full routine is here, along with what standing water in a burner tube actually does, and winter storage covers the seasonal end of it.
How these picks were made
We did not cook on these ovens. Every figure on this page is the maker’s or the listing’s published specification, cited on each write-up so you can check it in one click. The ranking comes from matching those published capabilities to a stated use case — space, pizza size, fuel, and how many pizzas you cook in a row. Where a maker does not publish a number, we say so instead of estimating one.
The full version of that argument, including what we deliberately do not claim, is on our methodology page.
